Description

A stoneware tsubo jar by mingei artist Kawai Tōru.  It is decorated with floral motifs (kamon) elegantly rendered in copper and cobalt (gosu) underglaze brushwork.

Kawai Tōru is the grandnephew of Kawai Kanjiro and the last to study under the legendary master.  Over the years, he has refined his own particular style of mingei pottery - one that emphasizes clean lines and geometric forms.
