Kirikané Wall Decoration by Wada Tōzan

Wada Tōzan is an accomplished artist with over 40 years experience producing the finest ceramics for tea ceremony.  He excels in enamel overglazed pottery and porcelain, and his works are renowned for their floral motifs and traditional Japanese patterns rendered with impeccable detail and precision.

This lovely wall decoration is affixed with a porcelain tablet holding a figurative image of a dewy spider's web at dawn.  The web is rendered in 24-carat gold leaf, and the level of handwork is amazing.  Each minute detail is hand cut and embossed in a technique pioneered by Wada Tōzan himself and officially named kirikané.
