Description

Among the different glazes in Kamada Kōji's tenmoku repertoire, yōhen yuteki is one of the most visually stunning.  While cooling in the kiln, streams of wood ash fan out to reveal the shiny layer of iron oxide beneath - like the veins of a moth's wing glimmering in the sunlight.

This yōhen yuteki saké cup is a real gem.  Handcrafted to a waferlike thinness, it is lightweight and perfectly balanced.  The lustrous quality of the glaze and fine details promise new discoveries at every sip.

Kamada Kōji's tenmoku works are held in private collections around the world and, in 2005, were acquired by New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art for display in their Asian Art collection.
