Raku Glazing Safety |
|
In accordance with guidelines published by
Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor & Welfare regarding tableware safety
(Article #0811001, A:12), 2000 Cranes advises that raku bowls be uses
solely for the purpose of preparing matcha green tea.
Acidic foods or liquids (ex. vinegar-dressed foods, fruit juices, wine) have the potential to release trace amounts of lead in the glaze and,
thus, should not be used with raku ware.
