About Us

2000 Cranes is a family-owned and operated online ceramics dealer specializing solely in handcrafted, Kyoto-made pottery and porcelain.  We represent a growing number of local ceramic artists whose works are selected for their exceptional beauty and unique characteristics.  We carry a select line of their one-of-a-kind and regularly made pieces.

Our business was established in November 1998 with the cooperation of five artists who joined us as partners in our venture.  In November of 1999, 2000cranes.com was launched as an English-language forum for their work.  Since that time, we have come to represent other artists online, and we continue expanding our selection with monthly updates.

Our Website

Our website is designed following our policy of security, trust, and customer satisfaction.

Security & Trust

We understand that purchasing high-end ceramic art on the Internet involves a great deal of trust on the part of the buyer.  We value this trust and have made every effort to ensure the safety of our website and the privacy of customer information.

We are registered with GeoTrust - the world's second largest digital certificate provider.  So when you shop at 2000 Cranes, you can rest assured knowing that your order is safe, secure, and private.

Customer Satisfaction

When purchasing a fine piece of pottery or porcelain, there is little substitute for actually holding it in your own hands and getting to know it beforehand.  Weight, balance, texture, etc. are important considerations in the purchase decision.

We realize that online shopping has its limitations and, therefore, make every possible effort to present the works on our website in as much detail as possible. Our professional photography, in-depth artist profiles, specs and product descriptions help ensure that what's ordered is what's received.

If, however, customers are unsatisfied with their purchase in any way, or feel that it was misrepresented, we offer a 15-day return policy.  Details

Our Name and Logo

In Japan, the red-crested crane (tancho-tsuru) symbolizes happiness, good fortune, and the power of rejuvenation.  It is even said that they live a thousand years.

Established at the start of the new millennium, we incorporate both themes into our business name and logo.
