Kosei Tamaya's glazing repertoire includes many copper-based glazes which have evolved over years of experimentation and refinement.  This guinomi is done in his signature ruriyu - a lustrous emerald green glaze with metallic patches.  Its most striking feature is the deep opaline pool in the center which reflects spectral colors.  A thin urushi (lacquer) coating around the footring adds an earthy quality to the verdant color of the glaze.
