Suzuki Tomio's shino creations are renowned for their provocative textures.  Heavy applications of feldspar create a highly textured landscape of pinholes and crackles that leads the hands on a tactile journey around the work.

This green tea cup is a proud display of Mr. Suzuki's unique approach to shino.  It is done in nezumi (lit. "mouse") shino, as denoted by its soft grey colors.  While cooling in the kiln, details form as the glaze shrinks tightly around the body of mogusa clay.  Brushwork applied in bold, rapid strokes adds further to the character of this inspired piece.

For hot or cold green tea or iced tea.
