Suzuki Tomio's works are renowned for their sculpted terrains and provocative textures.  Heavy, repeated applications of glaze form a crackled surface that invites tactile exploration.

This energetic vase is done in a base of murasaki (lit. "purple") shino and accented with thick feldspar drip details.  Brushwork of white shino is applied in quick bursts and splashes, adding a fluid quality to the landscape.  The mouth is formed wide to accommodate large arrangements with long stemmed flowers and branches.  It is sure to become a conversation piece in any room.
