Shino pottery was first fired
during the Momoyama era (1568-1603) at kilns in Minō - central Japan.
Glazed with a simple mixture of mostly feldspar and water, shino is
renowned for its textured, citrus skin-like surface.
Hailing from Kyoto's Yawata District, Suzuki Tomio has reinvigorated
the world of shino with his provocative clay creations of incredible
tactile richness. Like this inspired beer glass. It is
done in his lustrous kagayō shino and textured with crackles of feldspar.
A striking piece that is sure to become a beer lover's most cherished
vessel.
Best when chilled before use. Also well suited for iced green
tea.

See Suzuki Tomio's
Kyoto exhibition for more from his 2011 collection.
