Wada Hiroaki works between two ends of the ceramic-making spectrum.  On one end is the precise, refined world of Kyoyaki porcelain.  On the other, the untamed world of wood-fired pottery.  And, at times, he's able to meld the two disciplines and introduce pieces which share qualities of both - like this striking iron glazed (tetsu-yu) beer glass.

It was fired at
Oizumi-gama in a saggar which protected it from waves of flying embers inside the wood-burning kiln.  In a more stable temperature, the glaze formed evenly around the sandy clay body, leaving traces of metallic flecks over a deep, lustrous burgundy.  It is sure to become a beer lover's cherished vessel.

Best when chilled before use.

A wooden presentation box will be custom made to order and signed by the artist.  Delivery time for this item is 2 weeks.

See Wada Hiroaki & Wada Tozan's Daimaru Gallery Exhibition pictorial for works from their recent collection.
