Tozan Wada is an accomplished artist with over 30 years of experience producing fine ceramics for tea ceremony.  Although his Kyoyaki (Kyoto ware) enamel overglazed pottery and porcelain is renown for its impeccable detail and precision, many of his works exude a elegance and simplicity that is equally commendable and just as stunning.

This tea ceremony bowl (chawan) is one of those pieces.  The body is deftly formed from a mixture of porcelain and clay, called hanjiki in Japanese, and glazed with a pristine layer of pure silver (ginsai).  Sanskrit characters rendered in enamel overglaze speak volumes of the bowl's heavenly associations.  They read, cendraprabhe, or "moonlight", and no other title could be quite as fitting.  The bowl possesses a luminous quality that invites quiet observation and reflection.

See Tozan Wada's Daimaru Gallery Exhibition pictorial for works from his 2006 collection.

A wooden presentation box will be custom made to order and signed by the artist.  Delivery time for this item is 2 weeks.

A fukusa (display cloth) is included.
