This vase was fired near the stoking chamber of the Wada family's noborigama climbing kiln.  Its light ash slip is a warm ochre color with heat change gradations.  Called kake hanaire (hanging vase) in Japanese, it is traditionally hung from the wooden frame around the alcove of tea ceremony rooms.

See Hiroaki Wada & Tozan Wada's Daimaru Gallery Exhibition pictorial for more from their 2006 collection.

A wooden presentation box will be custom made to order and signed by the artist.  Delivery time for this item is 2 weeks.
