Through constant experimentation
and refinement, Kamada Kōji has produced a number of glazes over the years, each one further adding to the breadth and
brilliance of his tenmoku
artistry.
Ginsho tenmoku is just one member of Mr. Kamada's glazing repertoire
and the most versatile of them all. Where other tenmoku glazes,
especially those in the yohen category, form best when there is a
constant gravitational pull (like from the inside of a tea bowl), the
metallic quality of ginsho tenmoku forms at any irregular
angle. And this has afforded the artist with the latitude to
experiment with vessel shapes of all types.
Nowhere else is the versatility of ginsho tenmoku more apparent than in this spirited sake decanter.
Its spherical body, arching handle and extended spout beautifully
render the brushed metal and cobalt hints of this special tenmoku
glaze. Golden highlights that appear naturally around all edges
and low-relief (tsisen) lines add a touch of luxury and refinement.
A very proud addition to any saké vessel collection.
