This sake cup is done in Kamada Kōji's signature yohen ginsho tenmoku.  The high iron content gives the piece a lustrous finish with hints of cobalt blue around the rim.  While cooling in the kiln, wood ash in the glaze forms an intricate web over the metallic underlayer, adding minute details and promises of new discoveries each time the cup is held.

This sake cup is handcrafted to a wafer-like thinness and balances perfectly upon a small footring.  It is sure to become a sake drinker's guarded treasure.

See Kamada Kōji's 40th Year Commemorative Exhibition for more works from his 2008 collection.
