Through constant experimentation
and refinement, Kamada Kōji has produced a number of glazes over the years, each one further adding to the breadth and
brilliance of his tenmoku
artistry.
This gourd shaped sake flask is done in two slightly
different versions of his signature ginsho tenmoku glaze.
Together, they lend the piece a unique dichromatic quality: a
feathered, silvery blue on the upper bulb and a matte grey with hints
of brown on the lower. A band of cobalt blue around the waist
demarcates both halves, while golden highlights around the rim and
low-relief lines (tsuisen) add a sense of refined luxury.
The proud addition to any saké vessel collection.
