Through constant experimentation and refinement, Kamada Kōji has produced a number of glazes over the years, each one further adding to the breadth and brilliance of his tenmoku artistry.

This gourd shaped sake flask is done in two slightly different versions of his signature ginsho tenmoku glaze.  Together, they lend the piece a unique dichromatic quality:  a feathered, silvery blue on the upper bulb and a matte grey with hints of brown on the lower.  A band of cobalt blue around the waist demarcates both halves, while golden highlights around the rim and low-relief lines (tsuisen) add a sense of refined luxury.

The proud addition to any saké vessel collection.

See Kamada Kōji's 40th Year Commemorative Exhibition for more works from his 2008 collection.
