Kyoto native Ikai Yuichi trained for several years under designated Living National Treasure Shimizu Uichi (1926-2004) - an artist renowned for his unhindered exploration into several ceramic disciplines, including iron and ash glazes, tenmoku, and celadon.  With such an inspirational pioneer to serve as his sensei, it was only natural that the young apprentice would bravely venture into these areas himself.

Yuichi Ikai is proud to introduce this medley of ash glazed katakuchi (spouted) sake bowls, specially made for serving cold saké in summer.  Each piece represents just one member of his expansive glazing repertoire, and each would make a fine new addition to any saké vessel collection.

Additional photos are available upon request.

See Ikai Yuichi's Takashimaya Gallery exhibition for more works from his recent collection.

Each bowl is sold individually and comes with a signed wooded box made to order.
Delivery time is 2 weeks.
