This six sided vase by Yuichi Ikai takes its name from the two characters for ash
(hai) and pottery (tō),
and both are equally represented here.
It was fired in a saggar (clay cylinder) packed with cedar and oak
shavings. As the shavings burned at varying intensities, cooler at the top and
hotter near the bottom, a gradation formed as the clay was permanently
heat changed. Vitrified patches of ash (pale green) formed
naturally around the top and shoulders.
Exuding a raw, unrefined energy, this contemporary vase makes an
eye-catching interior piece for any modern decor.

A wooden presentation box will be custom made to order and signed by
the artist. Delivery time for this item is 2 weeks.
