   ordering
Q:  How long will it take to receive my order? A:  Unless otherwise stated in the item description, you will receive your order within 7 days after confirmation.

Some items however, especially larger works like vases or fresh water jars, will have a wooden presentation box (ki-bako) custom made to order and signed by the artist.  In such cases, delivery time is 2-3 weeks after confirmation.

Q:  Can I have my order gift wrapped? A:  Yes.  For an additional ¥700, we'll wrap your order in decorative washi paper and send a gift card with your own personalized message.

This option is available after you press the add to cart button on any item.

Q:  Can I have my order delivered to another address? A:  Yes.  You can give an alternate address in the Shipping Information area during checkout.  However, the billing address that you provide must match the address to where your monthly credit card statement is sent.

Q:  Do all of your works come with a signed  box? A:  Yes.  Unless stated otherwise in the item description, the piece that you order will include a box signed by the artist.

Q:  How do I use the shopping cart? Q:  Please see our shopping cart help page for details

Q:  Do you wholesale? A:  2000 Cranes offers volume discounts to resellers and individuals who qualify for our discount program.

For additional information, please contact 2000 Cranes

Q:  Can you send me a print catalogue? A:  Unfortunately, no.  Most of the works we sell at 2000 Cranes are one-of-a-kind pieces that the artist may not (or cannot) recreate.

Print catalogues cannot keep pace with the ever-changing nature of the works we sell.

   payment
Q:  What forms of payment do you accept? A:  We accept all major credit cards, international postal money orders, and inter-bank wired funds.

Q:  Do you accept payment in other currencies? A:  Yes.  Visa and  MasterCard holders can choose to pay in euros or the currencies of these countries.

Hovering over each flag in the shopping cart will show the current rate for conversion from Japanese yen to the corresponding currency.

For more information on the advantages of paying in your native currency, please see our Payment Options page

Q:  Can I pay using PayPal?

A:  Yes.  Just choose PayPal as your payment solution during checkout.  Non-registered members can now choose to create an account for future use.

Q:  Is ordering online safe? A:  Yes.  When you press the "add to cart" button, you are taken to CCNow's secure servers.  Secure socket layer (SSL) technology using 128-bit encryption provides you with the highest level of security available on the Internet.

Q:  How much do you charge for shipping? A:  Shipping fees are calculated by weight and applied only to the actual weight of the item(s) in your order.  No handling charges apply.  See our shipping table for rates

Shipping is not a profit center for our business.

Q:  Will I have to pay a duty on my order? A:  You may, depending on the value of your order and the vigilance of the postal service in your country.  Import duties, value added tax (VAT), or other charges on goods from Japan are the responsibility of the buyer when or if they are levied on the order.

Q:  Can I track my order? A:  Yes.  We will send you an EMS tracking number once your order has been shipped.  With this number, you can track the location and status of the package anytime online.

Q:  From where is my order sent? A:  From our office in Osaka, Japan.

Q:  How do you package your items?

A:  We use bubble or foam wrap to protect works and ship orders in 2-ply cardboard boxes.

2000 Cranes Environmental Policy

At 2000 Cranes, we use only recycled cardboard boxes and as little plastic wrapping as possible. As a filler, we use non-CFC foam peanuts.

E-commerce helps 2000 Cranes reach globally. We ask our customers to please think locally and reuse these packaging materials as much as possible.

   pottery & porcelain care
Q:  Are your items microwave safe? A:  Although most ceramics can be used in microwave ovens, 2000 Cranes advises customers to avoid microwaving fine pottery & porcelain at any time in order to keep it in best condition.

Ceramics with gold or silver detailing should never be used in the microwave.

For more details, see our Ceramics Care Page

Q:  Can your items be machine washed? A:  We recommend washing all fine ceramics by hand with a soft sponge and as little dishwashing liquid as possible.  If you do use a dishwasher, please choose a mild detergent as some brands are quite abrasive and can gradually dull the surface of pottery & porcelain over years of use.

For more details, see our Ceramics Care Page

Q:  How do you tie the ribbon that comes with the box? A:  For instructions on making cho-cho musubi, see our ribbon tying page

   quality of works
Q:  Are the works you sell secondhand? A:  No.  At 2000 Cranes, we sell only the highest quality, exhibition-grade pieces the artists we represent have recently fired.  We do not deal in secondhand or B-grade works acquired at auctions or pottery fairs.

As a result, the value and provenance of our listings is unquestioned.

Q:  How do you ensure the authenticity of the works you sell? A:  We represent the artists directly and guarantee the authenticity of the works we sell.  Additionally, all items are stamped by the artist around the footring and come with a signed box.  Profile papers in both Japanese and English are also included.

Q:  Are any of the works you sell machine made? A:  No.  The works we sell at 2000 Cranes are all hand-crafted, glazed, and fired by artists following centuries-old techniques.
